In This Issue...Noise Fears - Fireworks

You are receiving this email from Dr. Christina Chambreau because you are passionately committed to having health for your animals, yourself and the planet or because a friend thought you wanted to hear this information.

JULY 4th is HERE!!

Why do we love loud noises? Fireworks are beautiful. Noise are not great for wildlife, people or many of our cherished companions.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Attached is a great handout from Holistic Actions (thank you Aruna) you can print and handout to friends. Click zoom after opening to see it well.

To summarize and add a bit to that handout that you can do right now with little preparation:

  • Firework noise is a bit different from thunderstorms, since it really is the noise that some of us are sensitive to. Storms can cause problems from the pressure changes, rain sounds and more.
  • Plan to get away from the noise - plan a night camping in a quiet area, visiting a pet friendly hotel or friends in a quiet area.
  • Get away from noise as a staycation in your own home.  Where is the quietest room? Maybe even a tiny bathroom! It may be at a local friend's basement.
  • Plan for the evening/day:
    • Music
    • Food treats (skip the meal and feed treats all the time!)
    • Games, snuffle mats, food games/toys
    • Petting, Tellington T touch, massage, acupressure (GV 26 & Kid 27), Reiki, EFT (emotional freedom technique - tap the top of your head and theirs, saying positive statements)
    • Essential oils, flower essences (Rescue Remedy is available at all health stores)
    • Training for tricks (only for a few minutes at a time - stop before they are bored.
  • Be calm and in a fun mood yourself. They really pick up on our thoughts.
Decrease noise sensitivity for the future:
  • Improve health and vitality over time - the healthiest animals are less sensitive to outside noises, even regular ones like garbage trucks. This may be home care with the best diet, fewest toxins, good mental and physical exercise, energy help and much more. Or it may need professional help using some of the dozens of holistic modalities.
  • Energy help can be for emergencies or help when used long term and here are some you can learn to use that also help physical issues:
    • Reiki, HTA (healing touch for animals), EFT (emotion freedom technique), Emotion code, Bengston Method, Theta healing, Eden energy medicine, Quantum Touch, Prayer
  • In quiet, happy times try different approaches like the thunder shirts, ace bandage Tellington TTouch wraps, flower essences, essential oils, games, training, etc. New to me is the common sense information that if you try these first when the negative stimulus is present, they are much less effective. Start several weeks prior to anticipated fear event, or do randomly over the year. When applied during the event, they are remembering the positive association. !!  Makes so much sense.
  • Supplements like CBD or herbs may help, so try when there are only mild triggers (or ones you create to test the supplement).
  • Desensitization methods - carefully research these for gentle one.
