& Other Learning I. Healing Stories - ⚡ A pet parent used the gentle Bowen technique on a very thunder-phobic dog. After the second treatment there was a violent night-time storm. The dog was actually found lying by the window, watching the lightning and not even panting. She said, "It's so much fun to use this modality!"
- One man’s Boxer was super anxious about all loud noises, especially
thunderstorms. After trying the thunder shirt (TTouch), flower essences and one homeopathic medicine to no effect, Jake decided to try treats. When he was sitting on the couch, he kept treats at hand. Out of the blue, he would clap his hands and call out, “Rocky, get a treat.” Soon, Rocky would come running wherever they were when he heard the clap. Then Jake played a tape of fireworks and other noises, at a low volume, giving a clap along with the noise. Though his ears pricked for a few
seconds, he would run quickly over for his treat. Within a few months, he just got a cuddle and noises were not a problem.
- 💮 Jackie was practicing for agility classes, became distracted and fell from the top of the A-frame. He held up his leg and limped over. Sue immediately gave him Arnica and he recovered quickly. Another person first walked the dog a bit to see if the body’s natural health would allow the injury to improve. While better, he started behaving oddly, not wanting her to
approach as usual. Since that was also a symptom for Arnica, she gave several doses of 30c Arnica and the dog was fine the next day and friendly as usual.
II. Health Tips - Helpful and totally safe for many anxieties, including the upcoming 4th of July is Standard Process Calming Comfort, a blend of amino acids, magnesium, ashwagandha, bovine colostrum,
and thymus proteins. I love how this company treats the planet (buys farms and shifts them to organic) and takes care of their staff (daycare on site & much more). To order, click here, then put 77TBVR into the box “Health Care Professional’s Patient Direct Code”. You will have your own
account and can order directly any dog, cat, horse or human supplement.
- 🌺 Learn ways to help you make decisions about care. Remember, there are no experts who are always right, and that applies to most of applied kinesiology (AK), too. When faced with which probiotic to use now, you could choose one because your favorite person recommended it, you heard a summit speaker, or your veterinarian suggested one. Or you were at a show and got 3 samples to try. Since there are no experts
with the right answer for your dog or cat, you would just pick one. You could offer each to see if your pet would choose one. You could do a lot of research, then choose. Another approach for any decision you need to make for your companion is broadly called “ask the natural knowing of the body”. A variety of methods exist to try. This article is good as it covers several methods, including the sway approach, which I love. For those learning homeopathy, you will see a slightly different prescribing approach to stretch your mind. Michaele Small Wright strongly suggests our world would be a wonderful place to live if everyone muscle tested
every decision – even what research to do, or a job application – let nature guide you. How you ask the questions can influence your answers, so practice and observe results. Holistic Actions members have access to several talks on different muscle testing approaches. One I like is:
- The sway method uses your whole body. Stand
grounded, clear your mind as much as you can, breathe deeply, then test. You could stand near your animal and hold each vitamin being considered, asking one of several questions. Would this be useful for Tippy to start taking now? Does Tippy want this? Is there something better? Then test one of the others. Then trust your intuition, make a choice and evaluate the response over the next few days and weeks.
- 🐕 Thank you, Christl, for requesting topics for me to cover
in this newsletter. Your final one is about teeth. Many, many breeds and other individuals have trouble with their teeth. Others, even doing your best, still need more care. The keys to having the healthiest mouth is to:
- 🍗 Feed LARGE chunks of meat/organs at least several times a week – so they must rip and tear to make it small enough to swallow. Or, if you feel safe about your chicken/turkey source – feed an appropriately big enough chicken neck, turkey neck, back, etc. When speaking
decades ago the U. of California Veterinary College, my student host had waited to try raw chicken till I arrived. We bought (at a health food store) an old hen (cheaper). We cut it into quarters. Her big dogs each got a quarter. One started to rip and tear into it – super cleaning the teeth and the meat never touched the ground again. The female licked and nibbled for 20 mins to finish. The second day she was as fast as the male. In another family with 6 big dogs being fed a mixture that
changed every week, one dog only would start to get tartar and 3 days of turkey necks (held by owner so dog would gnaw rather than swallow immediately) and teeth were white again.
- Exercise, fresh food diet, avoid toxins, love…all the regulars to create vitality and homeostasis.
- 🦷 Christl is using Teeth ~ Gums by Newton Homeopathics and adds MMS (Jim Humble - chlorine dioxide) to their water and says it is slow going. I do not recommend ever giving homeopathic medicines on
a regular basis – they are designed to re-balance the ill vital force and the best match (out of 7,000+ possible) needs to be carefully individualized. There are many good supplements for the water, to rub on teeth/gums, so you may need to learn muscle testing/dowsing to select, or just try one after the other.
- Train your dog/cat to LOVE having their teeth brushed, their mouth opened and examined.
- Equally as effective as a brush is rubbing with your finger according
to some pet dentists and my human one (for my teeth).
- Think about non-anesthetic dentistry annually, or just include the mouth as part of your weekly or monthly physical exam and record results in the journal if different than the prior month.
- Bowen was introduced
to me by a veterinarian who is now deceased and she saw amazing benefit by this method that gently vibrates muscles (and more techniques) to help the nervous system function properly. Good to use regularly or to help resolve symptoms anywhere in the body.
