🌺 Homeopathy makes it to a conventional veterinary text. Make sure to share this with your veterinarians. The series that has been published, Veterinary Clinics of
North America: Small Animal Clinics, has an upcoming issue on Holistic Approaches, edited by Dr. Laurie Dohmen. Dr. Shelley Epstein, long-time editor of the AVMA Journal, has written on classical homeopathy, including some amazing cases. You can read the entire article (click on the PDF
tab) online in full for free until late August 2025. I. Healing Stories - 🦝 Stories abound on the EFT (Emotional Freedom) sites about how this easy to learn method can help injured or scared wildlife. Of course, it works equally well with people and your cherished companions. While homeopathic medicines and Flower Essences are super effective, you need to be able to be near the animals to treat them. EFT can be done from a distance, as can Reiki. The key with EFT is to either: 1. Speak as if you are the animal or 2. Speak about your thoughts and emotions about the animal. With your animals you can also touch the EFT points on
them. These statements are first to acknowledge what is happening now (shock, injury, fear, inability to fly or run), then speak positives (how strong you are, your heart is beating strongly, you are recovering from the issue, etc), while tapping the points on yourself. From Animal EFT, Marie writes about a dove who escaped from a hawk, fell to the
ground, then was picked up by first one, then a second dog. Once the dogs were safely in the house, Marie started doing EFT. She ended with the final statement, “I am getting stronger and flying away”. The bird, which seemed on the edge of death, recovered within a few minutes.
- 🐕🦺 A lovely white German Shepherd was chewing at the tail head area several times. When checked, there was no flea dirt, no splinter or other wound obvious and some slightly inflamed skin. Had nothing been
done, he may have recovered on his own, or it may have gotten worse, possibly resulting in a veterinary visit. A few drops of Bach Rescue Remedy (or Spirit Essence Stress Stopper would be good, too) rubbed directly on the area and he stopped licking. Later the skin was normal. A few hours later he started biting again, so some chili pepper powder was gently rubbed on hair around the area (not on the skin). A second pepper treatment the next day and he completely stopped biting there. Had
it continued, comfrey, aloe or other topicals would be next to reach for. If it was already weeping and oozing when noticed, clip the hair and put on some suds of lye soap (great for weeping poison ivy, too). That would be good to record in the journal, notice if it had happened before and what else may be going on (anxiety?). The more you keep learning, the less you will worry about any issue.
- 🐈 Susie is a slightly anxious (much better than 6 years ago) 9-year-old kitty who
decided she wanted to clean up ½ stick of butter. The next morning, she did not want to eat, was very fearful and anxious, paced back and forth meowing, and did not want her belly to be rubbed at all. She vomited once, which smelled a lot and did not seem to help her feel better. She was given three doses of Arsenicum album 6c (which was what they had on hand) every 15 minutes, and slowly the restlessness and anxiety abated, and she slept. She was fine after waking the next day. Books like Don
Hamilton’s Homeopathic Care of Cats and Dogs list common symptoms of many often needed homeopathic medicines, especially for acute problems like these. These, and more, are keynotes of Arsenicum album, as well as a dozen or more medicines. If this had not helped, her guardians would look for another match or consult with their virtual homeopath. Holistic
Action members could post in the forum for guidance.
- 📖 From Dr. Epstein’s article (read all her details in the Veterinary Clinics book (above).
- After almost two months of conventional treatment and hospitalizations for menigiocephalitis, a six-year-old Akita was not responding. With homeopathic, individualized treatment, she began walking again as the steroid dose was decreased and the other drugs stopped. After five months of giving homeopathic remedies when indicated, she was symptom free and remained that way for at least 18 months of follow-up.
- A six-year-old Bull terrier mix had 2 surgical excisions for mast cell tumors. They kept returning. The initial
homeopathic medicines did not resolve them and after about three months, he had over 60 skin masses. The next homeopathic medicine selected did work, and within a year, all the tumors were gone and a year later had not returned.
- A mare diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus by biopsy was not responding to conventional treatment. Within six weeks her skin was completely clear, and her personality/energy level/handling quirks had improved
dramatically.
II. Health tips - 🐕 We all want to prevent problems and do the very best for each individual cat and dog in our home.
- Common sense tells us many steps to take.
- Listen, pay attention, love, communicate regularly.
- Feed fresh food, not processed, and best to integrate into family meals. (Check out the live course I now offer to make this easy and affordable)
- Use high-quality supplements when needed. Learn to muscle test to know when to give them, and let your animals tell you when they no longer want them. A good basic one is Canine or Feline Whole Body Support by Standard Process. To order, click here, then put 77TBVR into the box “Health Care Professional’s Patient Direct Code”. You will have your own account and can order
directly any dog, cat, horse or human supplement.
- Avoid toxins (even from well-meaning veterinarians)
- Respect, even love, symptoms. They are clues to the internal state. Learn about BEAM & Early Warning Signs of Internal Imbalance.
- Be creative with mental and physical stimulation.
- And now a huge step forward with some very practical ways to individualize care for dogs, as from Elizabeth Johnson. She spoke for Holistic Actions several times in 2025 and members can access all past talks. Her book, Know Your Dog’s True Nature is well worth a read. When you can identify your dog’s primary Chinese “element”, you will have many
ways to live in more unity. I have included just a very few of the tips mentioned for each element. She did say that cats are shape shifters, so she has not figured them out yet.
- First, two tips for all dogs (and cats):
- If you move to a new house, keep all the pet’s things in a similar location. Food bowl by the fridge, bed where the TV can be seen…
- Gently press the Yin Tang point whenever there is stress. It is between and slightly above the eyes. Some say this is
the 3rd eye.
- Wood dogs need a job, need to move a lot, and have clear boundaries. To anticipate health in geriatric times, teach them to love swimming. They respond very quickly to herbal treatments in general. If not – can be overprotective, aggressive, have tendon and joint issues
- Fire dogs need to be adored, to have social exposure, play, and be adored and praised. If not – separation anxiety, reactive, skin
and GIT issues, lick a lot.
- Earth dogs are nurturing and care-giving, kind, must have routine or worry, and need praise. Tend towards GIT, fat, lame. They learn slowly and remember forever, just want to hang out and be stroked.
- Metal dogs need a purpose so work, search and rescue, police dogs. They need to move, and to have quiet alone time. They do not need people, touching or other animals. They are inflexible, smart (so games are great), and intense. If off, they
could be apathetic or irritable. A clue is dogs who turn their heads away from strangers.
- Water dogs are empathic, mystics, teachers to us, quirky, and wise. They are often sent back to shelters. They can develop many illnesses when out of balance. Stressed by noises, chemicals, EMF, and maybe our thoughts and feelings. They want quiet, peace, rest, connection and love to talk to animal communicators.
- 🩺 Do you have your holistic health care in place
yet? Each animal (true for people too) may need a different practitioner (chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, homeopathy (which can be done virtually, etc). If you have not yet found a veterinarian who satisfies you, read this article. If still new to holistic thinking, read the second part of the article about what you can do to help
the veterinarian do their best. If you are still frustrated, schedule a call with me. If you have to leave town with little notice, do you have caretakers/kennels/homes for your pets and plants? Plan for the future, research, or keep your antenna up for places that holistically help mobility issues. Train your dogs and cats to love being examined, go in the car, in the
carrier, etc.
- 💉 Many of you say you are stressed and overwhelmed with health decisions. There are so many wonderful health and happiness free (often) summits for animals and people; blogs; the many different food and supplement options; the many trainings for healing approaches; magazines; and this newsletter – many people feel they are not
doing enough for their companions. Relax, know there is no one right answer and that your dogs and cats, rabbits and horses want you to be happy. They do not want you to stress about their care or spend more money than your family can afford. As trainer Bryndon Golya says, take everything slowly. Add one new thing at a time. Take one extra minute to breathe with your animals, or admire the sunrise.
- 🐈 Older feline help. Dr. Jeff’s 15-year-old cat with kidney
problems was responding well to homeopathic remedies, yet still losing muscle mass and being a bit weak. He started using MYOS feline muscle formula supplement and is seeing some improvement.
III. Classes & Other Learning - 💻 CIVT (College of
Integrative Veterinary Therapies) has an associate membership that any of you can access. I just saw this 2022 class on health care and the environment that is free and available anytime. Other courses are available for you as well. And encourage your conventional veterinarian to take it as well!
- Starting this fall I will be teaching live, virtual, small, three hour, individualized classes to address any
area of holistic healing where you want to learn more, are stuck, have questions. Click here for more info.
IV. Good News From Organizations For Health And Sustainability - 🍎 Help provide food
to families in need and change lives during the 10th annual One Day, One Bottle, One Meal charitable event. Standard Process will donate a meal for every product purchased on Thursday, August 14. Last year, they donated 57,000 meals which is phenomenal. Their commitment to buying farms and converting to organic, nurturing their staff, and now this, is one reason I love them. To order any product, click here, then put 77TBVR into the box “Health Care Professional’s Patient Direct Code”. You will have your own account.
- 👩🌾 Search for Common Ground shines a spotlight on ordinary people who are working tirelessly to build bridges and help people find common ground amidst conflict. They work tirelessly and often without much
attention. Nominate a Common Ground Hero today. And Search had a major role in creating a Universal Code of Conduct on Holy Sites which has been successfully implemented in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Nigeria, and Mount Zion.
- 💻 A year old organization, Interspecies Voices, is a wealth of resources and inspiration. The goal is to support people and organizations who are using animals, wildlife and ecosystems as equal partners in shaping the future of our world. Full of audio, videos and text, you will be inspired with hope and ready to take the next action steps to help your critters as well as the planet.
