I. Healing Stories - ❄️ Midwinter with light snow cover in Maryland,
and an adult cat showed up at my door. She did not want to be petted, though she was friendly. Gobbling down fresh food, she seemed happy in the heated bed in the garage. The next week, she and one of my other cats both vomited and seemed nauseous. I gave an acute treatment of Nux vomica, and my indoor cat was fine but not the stray. Checking in with an animal intuitive, she had a virus. We intuitively tested for which healing approach would be best, including flower essences and kept getting a
no to all we could think of. The intuitive then realized we had not been clear when we asked about flower essences. There are many different vibrational essences (all totally safe to use), and a number of them are not made from flowers. Perelandra has a viral 1 and a viral 2 essence and this kitty needed #2 viral essence. The communicator said to give repeatedly for days, and I got that one dose would be enough. The day after dropping a few drops on her paws, which she then licked off, she was
completely back to normal and found a lovely home the next week. Two key points here: be precise when asking yes/no questions of the energy field. Volhard and Brown have a nice long section in their book, The Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog on muscle testing (works equally well with cats and beings that you cannot touch). Holistic Actions member webinars have
included several great speakers on asking nature, as do writings from Machelle Small Wright at Perelandra.
- 🐩 Susie came to me as a 9-year-old miniature poodle diagnosed (by ultrasound) with hemangiosarcoma of the spleen. Surgery had been recommended since these tumors can start to bleed quickly, which could cause death. The owner did not
want surgery and wanted homeopathy. Her individual and characteristic symptoms included liking attention, preferring cold water and ice cubes (well, she did live in Savannah, GA), and being sensitive to noises and thunderstorms. These and more led me to choose (from 7,000 possible homeopathic medicines) Phosphorus, though several other remedies were also used over time. I also had her have Yunnan Biao (a great Chinese herbal combination I recommend being in your emergency kit) on hand if there
was an indication of bleeding. Susie lived another 12 years, dying at 21 of an unrelated illness. Twice she had a bleeding episode, one time needing a blood transfusion. Each time, it was completely resolved with homeopathic medicines. She was happy and less noise sensitive as well.
- 🐈 A client and Holistic Actions member reports on how Happiness Protocol helped her cat. “I have a cat who was having some lumps being treated by my homeopathic veterinarian. She seemed to be less and
less engaging in our life together, being irritated with the other four cats, and really withdrawing. And I just thought, well, a lot of these other things I'm trying don't seem to be working, so I'm just going to do the happiness protocol because what do I have to lose? Within 2 days, there was a huge change in her. Huge change. She started playing with abandon. She started being so much more interested in food. She was more affectionate and more interactive with her other littermates,
even though the lumps didn't go away. I had decided to be with her to the best of my ability, and I had to be nice to myself because I have to have a life too, and work. I took every opportunity that I could to attend to her needs, paying attention when she was looking up at me and twirling around my legs in the kitchen, and giving me that little trill and like, what do you want? And also, just go out of my way to go over and tell her just how much I appreciate her in my life and pet
her a little bit. She'd do this big purr and then, you know, she'd be purring for minutes afterward and just go back to sleep all content. Just that, just really pumped up my appreciation of her and acknowledgement of her importance in my life and how grateful I was for her. Her quality of life is staying great, the other cats are happier, and I feel peaceful”.
II. Health Tips - 🌱 Toxins in the environment: Reminder to avoid walking animals on
golf courses (unless one of the few sustainable ones not using chemicals), parks, other people’s lawns, especially right after a rain. The biggest help for your cherished companion is to work on building health every day so the body can appropriately detox any unavoidable toxins. If joy and happiness for your dog is to run on the golf course, the risk may be worth the endorphins from the run. Washing their feet, and maybe the belly can help.
- 🐕 A coaching client emailed me about
her dog, about 28 kg, who ate a small handful of raisins. Is there anything I can do to minimize the damage? Should I go to the vet? Or give her something like activated charcoal? Two different opinions. I said there was no need to worry as many dogs have eaten grapes and raisins for centuries with no problems. Yes, a few dogs had problems over the last decade. As always, push fear out of your thoughts, maybe be a tad more attentive and loving for a few days, and of course, let your
holistic veterinarian know if there are symptoms. Enter it in the journal, of course. There is also an on-line free site where you enter the weight of your dog and see the volume of raisins likely to cause a problem. Dr. Jeff Feinman suggested inducing vomiting if within an hour of eating the raisins, even if a small amount.
Otherwise, do not worry and maybe start super hydration by adding 1/4-1/2 cup of structured water with each meal. You can make some by soaking 1 tbsp/cup of chia seeds in bottled/distilled water overnight. Sensitivity is the key, and the healthier they are, the less sensitive they will be to any triggers.
- 🦷 Scared to do dentistry on an older dog or cat? With the current anesthetics and the energetic support you can give yourself (or pay for), most dentals are worth the small risk.
Dr. Elaine Cebuliak, who spoke in July 2025 for Holistic Actions, is a board-certified veterinary dentist from Australia who has been using holistic approaches for decades. She said that every bite using a rotten tooth (even not noticed by you and some veterinarians) causes 50,000 bacteria/1 ml of blood to be released into the body!
- Until I hear more, I would avoid a new product being touted even by holistic sources. Sileo (dexmedetomidine oromucosal gel) claims to be the
first FDA-approved treatment for dogs that experience noise phobias or anxiety. They say: Sileo oral gel acts as a sedative for dogs and a bit of a tranquilizer. Your dog is still aware, but he “doesn’t care” as much about the disturbing noise. You should wear gloves to avoid getting it on your skin as you would absorb it yourself. It can lower blood pressure.” Hmmm. Does that sound like something you want to give when there are so many other ways to resolve noise phobias?
- Another
product I would avoid that is all over the holistic pet internet is the new Tofu Cat Litter. Soy products are often GMO and use a lot of glyphosate which harms our planet, and if the cat eats it. I doubt the tofu for litter is organic.
III. Classes - 📔 “Want to Feed Your Dog or Cat for Better Health—Without Guesswork?” Join me for a live, small-group zoom workshop where you’ll finally get clear, personalized
answers.” Stay tuned for schedules. If interested; the first five people emailing me that they are interested will get a class discount.
- 💻 Homeopathy classes for those who want to learn more. Homeopathy Today offers structured, affordable
classes. I would recommend the case taking (for humans) class, though I do not know specifically what they teach. Learning case taking helps regardless of treatment choices, as does evaluation of response. Homeopathy Today offers many resources, so worth getting onto their mailing list.
IV. Good News From Organizations For Health And Sustainability - 🌍 Good News about our planet. Every day brings amazing advances and uplifting moments that remind us just how wonderful the world can be. Here are five reasons why today is the best time ever to be alive:
| Global life expectancy has more than doubled over the past century. Extreme poverty has dropped from over 40% in 1981 to less than 10% today, lifting billions into better living standards. Wildlife conservation efforts have brought many species back from the brink. Solar power capacity is doubling roughly every three years, bringing clean energy to remote regions.- 👩👧 A small group of women-led peacekeepers in Armenia supported by Search for Common Ground developed Armenia's
first-ever trauma-informed training module in Armenian that's now integrated into the government's official e-learning platform.
- Youth are the key to our future. The Hunger Project partners include young farmers pioneering regenerative agriculture in Malawi, U.S students developing their leadership and fundraising through our FeelGood Program across college campuses and adolescent girls leading the way toward child marriage-free communities.
