here. Happy Halloween
My husband bought the candy and I indulged today – way too many Reese Cups. Remember that most chocolate at Halloween is not very high quality, so no need to panic if your pup gets into the candy bag. The chance of escaping is much more of a concern, so remember to keep on a leash, in a crate, or a separate room. On walks, have you observed anything different when you pass decorations, or is it ho-hum for
your dog? Good to watch for at Christmas, too. If they are anxious, slowly introduce them to these street changes. I. Healing Stories - Burned skin on kittens – herbs and homeopathy

I. Healing Stories - 🐈 A lovely
woman who rescues cats knew first aid homeopathy. Two badly burned four-week-old kittens were brought in that had been pulled out of a bucket of bleach and hot water. The skin was red, very painful and starting to blister. Though her veterinarian suggested euthanasia, she tried homeopathy. The herb Calendula is amazing for burns and wounds, so she sprayed the kittens every few hours that day, plus Cantharis by mouth, one dose. By the next morning, the pain was so much less that she
could handle them. Because of the severity and acuteness, she gave another dose of Cantharis. One more day of treatment and they were much better – eating, drinking, peeing and pooping just fine. The skin healed so rapidly that one was ready for adoption in 10 days. The other took a week longer to heal and be adopted.
- 🐈 An ocelot-kitty cross had never let the owners touch her in the 2 ½ years since kittenhood. After one Bowen treatment, she started jumping on the couch next to them and letting them pet her for 20-25 minutes. She even started head-butting the owners! After a second treatment, 2 weeks later she continued to improve, getting more confident with other family members and even strangers.
- 🐈 Reader Pam shared that her 14-year-old male Bengal
cat began limping at age 13. Daily hemp treats stopped the limping. A few months ago, he quit jumping off furniture or counters, and chiropractic for about 2 months has helped him jump off furniture as before, but she still has to help him off the kitchen counter. An injection of Solensia helped his pain. Because that is just palliative and can have side effects, what else could be done? More frequent chiropractic, treating until all Early Warning Signs of Internal Imbalance are resolved.

II. Health tips - 🩺 Dr. Jeff Feinman*
reminds us that indigenous cultures worldwide have maintained profound relationships with animals based on respect, reciprocity, and deep listening. I have added a bit here. Their wisdom offers invaluable insights for modern pet care. Explore each of these and try one that resonates with you. Sacred Relationship: Animals are viewed as teachers and guides, not possessions. This perspective naturally leads to more respectful, collaborative care approaches. When you ask yourself what
she is teaching me about myself or my world, amazing interactions can happen. Energetic Understanding: Traditional healing systems recognize the energetic body and its connection to physical health—a principle central to homeopathy and deeply wholistic care. Healing is of the whole spirit and physical being, not merely elimination of symptoms. Plant Medicine Wisdom: Indigenous knowledge of medicinal plants has contributed to many holistic veterinary treatments, from
herbal remedies to flower essences. Ceremony and Intention: The power of ritual, gratitude, and conscious intention in healing are practices that can transform our daily interactions with our pets. Natural Rhythms: Living in harmony with seasonal cycles and natural rhythms supports optimal health for both humans and animals. Since each of us is unique, our natural rhythms may conflict and workable agreements need to be made. Inter-species Communication:
Traditional cultures often maintained a sophisticated understanding of animal communication, a skill we can cultivate through many venues. Hire an animal communicator. Take the time to “listen” and observe. Take a class. Meditate together.
- 🐩 Recently, someone who works unpredictable hours bought a puppy and was doing a great job of cobbling together people to watch her. She wondered how long the pup could be on her own in the crate. A recent article by Nancy Tucker would be a good
read: in the Whole Dog Journal. As always, there is no one right answer and every dog is unique. And a good book on personality typing your dog from the TCVM five-element perspective is Johnson’s Know Your Dog’s True Nature can help with this decision and many more. First, let’s use some common sense. Life for many dogs in the last hundred years has changed drastically, as it has for many children. From free ranging on the farm and neighborhood most of the day, more people live in cities or suburbs and may commute a long way. We are asking a lot of our dogs. When we get home, are we tired from the day and want to rest? Our dogs have
been resting all day and want to play. Maybe we want them to cuddle with us when they want to herd some sheep. As with all family members, we need to have frequent communication sessions where we can evaluate everyone’s happiness level and renegotiate. Nancy reminds us that adult dogs do best (on average) when allowed to relieve themselves 3-5 times a day, puppies and elderly dogs more often, of course. This, then, helps us with the need to socialize puppies. Have your schedules, or arrange for
someone to come for 30 minutes or more every 3-4 hours while you are gone. As they get older, you can decide (or speak with an animal communicator) if they are fine being on their own for 6-7 hours. When you arrive home, do not make assumptions and be overenthusiastic. Today, what does he want right now? How long will they watch TV? One dog adores shows about marine mammals and would watch for hours. Set timers (so easy these days) to leave the TV on for a time, then quiet time, then maybe a
different channel. Dogs do need to sleep much more than we thought, so be sure to give them quiet times. Puppies need 8-20 hours per day and adult dogs 12-14 per day.
- 🎨 Creative ideas for day care: retired folks who love dogs but do not feel they will live as long as a dog or cannot afford the cost of care for a dog; young people who cannot have pets, are in scouting or 4-H; swap with people who have a dog who work different schedules than you.
- ☕ Have you ever
visited a Cat Café? My first was in Montreal, Canada, (which may have been the first in N. America) and it was a wonderful treat to sit with a friend while petting and playing with cats. A lot of the coffee drinkers were college students missing their cats from home. Wired Whisker is one of the many variants of cat cafes in Duluth, MN. One blog
lists some of its favorite cafes around the world. The first café opened 25 years ago in Taiwan, and then they became popular in Japan, with the first North American café opening in Montreal. This article discusses the history and possible ethics of the cafes, some of which give permanent homes to cats and others which have cats up for adoption. Do you
do Reiki or EFT? Are you good at sending healing intentions or can easily communicate with cats? You could visit different cat cafes near you or when you travel and check in deeply with the cats and staff.
- 🍖 Are you challenged by finding good meat sources for your family, especially if you have big dogs? One resource is “local meat map” with
over 7,000 farms on a US map. They also have links to other websites like finding non GMO foods, fresh spring water, and raw milk. Of course, you are the advocate, so you need to research each farm, with a visit if possible. I do know that one they list near me is a food hub that is very organic and sustainable, with vegetables, breads, jams, meats, fruits, and seafood. Also, find where local hunters and fishers get their meat processed. Often they do not want all they hunted and you can merely pay the butchering fee. Buy a whole cow and share it with other
families. Love to hear what works for you.
III. Classes - 💻 Irith Bloom, one of my panelists on the Smart Pet Talk TV series, whom I now respect so much for her gentle and thorough approach to living happily with our dogs, has a virtual class on using choice to prevent and help resolve behavior issues. Registration starts on Nov 22, 2025 and the class begins on Dec 1.
- 📝 Writing quizzes for classes has always been a challenge for me. A wonderful lady taking my homeopathy for animal classes at the Naturopathic CE center contacted me because several of my questions made no sense to her. She was right and I will rewrite them. Wanting to learn more about using homeopathy for your animals, or in your health business, or learning
healing principles that will keep you focused on deep cures with any healing approach? Check out my classes – a one hour introduction, and a 7-module more extensive class.
- 💻 Stress-free ways to feed your cats and dogs – 3 hour live zoom class taught by me (to be scheduled). Email me with your interest. Check
it out here.
IV. Good News - 🌍 I Am Humanity Day had over 1,000 people participating globally. Featured speakers included Lynne Twist (Soul of Money, Pachamama Alliance), Hunter Lovins, Peter Fiekowski, and many more. Watch videos of events around the world and be inspired to celebrate what is possible. Listen to the 6 sessions here.
- 🚜 90 year old Barby Keel has been giving sanctuary for over 54 years and is still going strong. Starting with a soldier’s dog, she has helped over 10,000 cats, dogs, sheep, cows, pigs, and goats. Many are adopted out, and others live a great life on her 12-acre farm in England. Read about it, then check out their website and maybe contribute.
- 🍾 The Washed Ashore Art Project is creating beauty from plastic trash. Since 2010, they have cleaned 300 miles of beaches and processed 60,000 pounds of trash, all to create 86 huge marine animals, often inspired while picking up the beach debris. You can host an exhibit in your town, volunteer in Oregon, or donate to help.
