I. Healing Stories 📖 For brevity, I generally pick stories where the animals improve quickly with one type of treatment. Does this make you frustrated when your animals are taking months or years to heal? Does this expose you to different approaches you can try? In Ed DeBeukelaer’s Homeopathy What To Expect: 101 cured cases, there are mostly animals healed with one homeopathic medicine, and a few that took years or multiple remedies. Email me if you would like to see longer cases where patience and trying different approaches was needed. - 🐕 An otherwise
healthy Boston Terrier, friendly, lots of energy and generally well behaved, started digging up rocks in the garden, even moving huge ones. His person remembered that this had happened last August, as well. Though not enough symptoms to select a homeopathic medicine, we tried a few and in a month the behavior stopped. No problems for the next year until August, when it happened again, even causing some sores on the face from abrasions. We carefully reviewed the journal to discover the trigger
for this. Because they went down to Florida every August, they would give a combination heartworm and parasite “preventative” each August. Upon return, he would no longer dig rocks. Next year they did not give that chemical and there was no more rock digging. Journals do help the detective work.
- A very holistically cared for Chihuahua began to limp on his walks. Veterinary exams showed nothing. It only happened on the walks or on cold days in the house. At another veterinary visit,
the observant technician saw that the sweater and coat were causing the problem. With new clothes, the limping stopped! Again, detective work and not rushing to do a ton of diagnostic tests was the answer.
- Chronic diarrhea mostly resolved: A 5 year old Golden Retriever’s chronic diarrhea (and some skin problems) had not responded to metronidazole, fenbendazole, tylosin or a dietary trial with novel proteins. The skin had cleared along the way. Homeopathic Phosphorus was selected for him
and even when new foods were introduced, the stools remained firm. The skin rash came back for a few weeks, but was less bothersome and finally resolved. Healing often happens from the more severe symptoms to the milder ones, and from the inside out. Four doses total were given of the Phosphorus. A year later, while staying at a kennel, he had violent, bloody diarrhea on the 5th of 7 days boarding and was treated conventionally. At first Arsenicum album was prescribed due to some behavior
changes but the stools were not completely back to normal, so Phosphorus was repeated and they normalized. Over the next 6 years, he was fine except for a few occasions when there was a lot of stress and a dose of Phosphorus would resolve the stool. At age 11 he developed cancer and died within a few months. Was he really cured? Was the homeopathy suppressing his immune system? Was the cancer from all the toxins we live with daily, or was it just his time? Remember there are no right
answers and no experts who have a right answer. He was happy and playful until a few days before death and that is most important.
II. Health Tips - 🐈 Increase fun and increase health: I loved many of these cat tricks. They all use boxes for a theme and because cats love
boxes.
- Read a blog post at Psychology Today about Dr. Jeff Feinman’s transformational book which is just out – Path to Pet
Wellness. What is transformed? Our mindset.
- Sudden onset of Diarrhea: First ponder if there is a known trigger like eating too many treats, getting into the garbage, extra stress in the house, travel, etc. If not, most pets with gastrointestinal tract symptoms are having a flare-up of their chronic dis-ease, their underlying energy imbalance, which needs to be addressed as they are not true acute dis-eases.
- If they are feeling well overall (good BEAM), healthy
dogs or cats will recover on their own. Patience, and maybe having to get up at night, is important for we can judge the inner energy balance by how well they recover with their own resources.
- If you feel indulgence of some sort occurred, fasting for a day is often enough to rest the digestive tract. Observe/listen to your companion – if ravenous, feed a light meal or broth; if not, then fast.
- You can also help the healing by immediately using any energy methods you
have learned, such as Reiki, WEBB, Theta, Eden, Scalar. Hopefully you have been offering these on a regular basis and so remember when there is an imbalance. If not yet trained, https://www.animalreikisource.com/ offers free healing at their Facebook page and many classes. Just sitting, connecting, intending for comfort for your animal and allowing
love to flow is very powerful.
- This would be the time to contact your holistic veterinarian to schedule an appointment if it may be needed later. What!! You do not yet have one?! Now, before symptoms appear, study this article and follow the prompts. Or schedule an advising appointment with me.
- Be sure to record the specifics of the diarrhea (color, mucus, odor) and the resolution in your journal. This is a member benefit of Holistic Actions, or you can order it here.
- If a bit worse, not resolving or you wish to soothe the straining, try:
- Bland diet: Super cook rice or millet in a bone broth (or any broth) and add boiled chicken (50/50 or so for dogs, more meat for cats). Cats may prefer bland meat baby food to start.
- Marshmallow root (more gentle than slippery elm bark, and more environmentally sustainable)
- If your pet is continuing to have diarrhea, start pre
and pro biotics. I find Mitomax excellent, if from emotional upset, and is easy to give.
- Repeated episodes: Having to limit the types of food or needing to stay off supplements are indications that your pet is less than vital and balanced. While focusing on all aspects of health (take the pet
health class at Holistic Actions), you may also need deeper treatments with a holistic veterinarian.
- Normal function of the GIT is a balance between what is ingested and what comes out. When a healthy (for that individual) diet is fed, most is properly absorbed. When ill, the body is not able to function normally.
- Behavior problems can be related to brain function and can be one of the Early Warning Signs of Internal Imbalance – or of course can be
miscommunication between you and your animals. Some basic health steps can help with behavior issues, lessen chances of cognition problems with aging and maybe prevent seizures.
- Socialize mentally and physically. Really listen, observe and communicate in every possible way. While cats and dogs do need a lot of sleep, when awake they need to be encouraged to act like a wild animal – hunt, chase, catch, sniff, be loved. Tellington T-touch is super.
- Feed fresh
food. Research shows that this helps the brain function better. Try fish oils (a study showed that fish oils help even traumatic brain dis-ease) and taurine. Especially with aging brain issues, you may want to try the Standard Process Canine Cognition Support supplement. (To order, set up an account by clicking here: my.standardprocess.com/Patient-Direct/patient-registration Then put 77TBVR in the box “Health Care Professional’s Patient Direct Code”, then fill out the form. In a day or 2 I will be able to approve you and you can order for a year, then I have to re-approve you.)
- Minimize vaccines and other toxins. As animals age, they certainly do not need more vaccines and depending on their lifestyle you may be able to not even get Rabies. They can trigger behavior and
brain problems. Homeopaths have often noted major improvements in behavior and cognition when remedies known to address vaccine challenges are used.
- Explore flower essences, essential oils, energy healing. Schedule a call with me to explore if the problems are with the vital force/energy balance,
lifestyle, or interspecies communication issues.
III. Classes - 💻 As our planet becomes more toxic, we try our best to buy good products and food ingredients. Rather than a list of good/bad, Amy Todisco is offering a 5-Day class to reset how
to evaluate what belongs in your healthy kitchen. There are short videos every day and a live kickoff just for this beta test. If you take the class – I am offering a free short follow up call to see how to apply this to animals in your home.
IV. Organizations for health and sustainability - 🌍 Nova Scotia Shelter has adopters rushing in so every animal has been adopted and there are waiting lists for kittens and puppies.
- Over 15,000 shelters and rescues were suggested for the 5 Heroic Hearts Collective awards given out by PetPlace. The five to check out are AmsterDog Rescue, Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue Society, The Pittie Party of Central Florida (mostly unadoptable dogs), Umbrella of Hope Rescue (Medical issues or geriatric animals), and Whiskers N Wishes Sanctuary (senior cats, or medical
issues).
- The Hunger Project-India facilitates programs that create safe spaces for adolescent girls through peer collectives, called Sukanya Clubs where they work together to develop sustainable solutions to address local problems. Inspiring video.
